16 Jun Presentation of the EcoZani Project at the 2nd Research Project Symposium of the University of Western Macedonia

The presentation of the EcoZani project was successfully held at the 2nd Research Project Symposium of the University of Western Macedonia on Friday, June 13, 2025.

Ms. Elpida Samara, faculty member of the Department of Accounting and Finance, presented the project EcoZani, titled:

“Creative, innovative, and inclusive ecosystems towards  just work transition in Kozani.”

During the presentation, the significance of EcoZani was highlighted as a holistic intervention supporting “the just and sustainable transition” of the Kozani region in the post-lignite era. The project focuses on activating the local community through skills enhancement, social inclusion, and the empowerment of young people and underrepresented groups, in collaboration with local stakeholders and municipal authorities.

EcoZani is part of the initiatives of the European Urban Initiative (EUI) and promotes a green, innovative, and participatory development model, with a strong emphasis on justice, inclusion, and circular economy.

The project’s participation in the Symposium reflects recognition of its scientific dimension and contributes to the outreach and visibility of its activities.
