The 1st EcoCarnival Business Challenge was successfully completed in Kozani, organized as part of the EcoZani project by the University of Western Macedonia.
The competition aimed to connect youth innovation with a sustainable and inclusive Carnival, attracting 45 entries, out of which the top 10 teams advanced to the final round.
The ideas were evaluated by a judging panel based on three key criteria: innovation, sustainability, and business model.
Standout Ideas Included:
Strata for All – Inclusive Fanos (traditional lantern parade)
SkyView – AI-powered drone with live streaming capabilities
Carnival Flower – Fragrant product made from floral water
The winners of the challenge are now moving on to the business acceleration phase, supported by Impact Hub Athens and JOIN4CS, with the goal of developing functional prototypes of their ideas.
The success of the event was strongly supported by the Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia (CluBE), which actively contributed to the promotion and implementation of the competition from start to finish.
