14 Jul 57 ideas, 20 proposals, one Designathon for Kozani!

On Saturday, 4 July 2026, the EcoZani Designathon was successfully held, marking the next stage of the Open Call for small-scale urban interventions (Urban Acupuncture) in the city of Kozani.

The Open Call attracted a total of 57 proposals submitted by citizens, groups and local communities, who shared creative ideas for improving the city’s public spaces. Following the evaluation process, 20 proposals were selected to advance to the Designathon phase.

Throughout the day, participants worked alongside mentors from different fields of expertise, exchanging ideas, refining their concepts and further developing their proposals to make them more mature, technically feasible and better aligned with the needs of the city and its residents.

The Designathon served as a collaborative co-creation workshop, bringing together citizens, experts, representatives of the Municipality of Kozani and the EcoZani project partners, with the shared goal of shaping innovative, sustainable and implementable interventions for the city’s public spaces.

What’s next?

The proposals further developed during the Designathon will soon be presented in an online public consultation, giving citizens the opportunity to explore, evaluate and contribute to the selection of the interventions that will move forward to the final stage of the project.
